Artist Bio

As a painfully shy child, I found drawing to be a process of quiet self-discovery and a way to process the world around me.

I grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio, have lived in several countries and traveled to many parts of the world. At Rhode Island School of Design and Carnegie Mellon University, I deepened my understanding and appreciation of the role of artists in society and the power of visual communication.

I am dedicated to representing diverse characters and helping to tell their stories, a mission that is largely informed by my many summers of work on Standing Rock Native American Reservation and my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Dominica. My work is based on the belief that visual story-telling is a powerful tool to fight intolerance and encourage inclusion amoung young readers.
